Magazine key concepts (LIIAR)

There are 5 concepts included in (LIIAR) they are;

LANGUAGE - this is the terminology used to describe the subject; media language can usually be found on the front cover of magazines (masthead, coverlines) however they can also be used throughout the magazine.

IDEOLOGY - this links in with the idea of stereotyping; it is the values, ideas and beliefs that represent either individuals or certain groups of people in society.

INSTITUTION -this is the organisation that create different forms of media. one institution can be a conglomerate company such as Time Warner that owns smaller companies. In terms of magazine production the institution is important as the institution needs to be well known such as NME in order for people to want to buy it.

AUDIENCE - these are the individuals or groups that consume the product being produced. In terms of music magazines this is generally aimed at people between 15-25 and the audiences interests are usually taken into account.

REPRESENTATION - all media products represent an idea, or values. This can be through adapting a stereotypical view and ideas about the society we live in. representation can be shown through speech, written content or moving image, however representation can cause controversy and cause upset so a lot of care is taken.
